Bat Path Killer #2: The Cast
Welcome back to Day 3 of the Bat Path Killer mini-course! Today, we'll talk about the second big Bat Path Killer: The Cast.
The Problem: The Cast
- Problem: Casting the hands and bat away from your body, like you do when you cast a lure into the pond.
- What it Means: Casting occurs when hitters extend their arms too early in the swing, pushing the bat away from their body prematurely.
- How it Shows Up:
- Reduces power generation
- Creates weak contact
- Limits ability to handle inside pitches
Solution: Fix Your Direction
- What to Do: Stop swings from seated & standing positions with 3 different stances
- Why it Helps: The emphasis is on holding position while you rotate and isolating the upper body. Doing the drill properly eliminates casting.
- Example: Seated 90 degree - Stop Swings
What to Expect Next
Casting is autocorrected just by doing the prescribed drill properly. Learning to rotate is the key to tapping into the natural plane that exists.
