Congratulations! You're on your way to become a Big Dawg at the plate!
I'm Coach Kinney, known as @Hittingdesign on social media. I have helped 100's of players avoid these bat path killers by applying my proven "bat path design" techniques. Over the next 5 days I will share action steps to teach proper rotation and plane through drills that you can do at home.
I'll share one short video a day over the next 5 days to help you fix your 3 big bat path killers.
My goal is to make hitting easy to understand so you can hit the ball harder to help your team win more games.
Let's dive into the 3 big bat path killers:
Bat Path Killer #1: Dropping your shoulder
- Problem: Changing your posture by dropping your back shoulder
- What it Means: Your plane tilts rearward and doesn’t match the path of the ball creating an uppercut swing.
- How it Shows Up: If you hit the ball with topspin or you swing and miss under the ball, you might need a posture change and rotation drills to fix.
Bat Path Killer #2: Casting
- Problem: Your swing is long and slow.
- What it Means: Casting occurs when hitters extend their arms too early in the swing, pushing the bat away from their body prematurely.
- How it Shows Up: This mistake reduces power generation, Creates weak contact, Limits ability to handle inside pitches
Bath Path Killer #3: Lowering your hands
- Problem: Trying to swing level with the ground or on path with the pitch.
- What it Means: This common flaw occurs when hitters drop their hands at the start of their swing, creating an unnecessary loop in their bat path.
- How it Shows Up: This mistake increases swing time, reduces consistency, makes it harder to adjust to different pitch locations

Over the next few days, we'll tackle the three biggest bat path killers that I see holding players back. I've developed these lessons from years of coaching experience, helping hundreds of players improve their swing mechanics.
Each day, you'll receive a new lesson focusing on one specific bat path killer. I'll break down: • What the problem is and why it matters • A detailed explanation of the proper technique • Specific drills you can use to fix the issue • Key points to remember during practice
The goal is simple: help you develop a more efficient, powerful swing by eliminating these common mistakes. These are the same techniques and drills I use with my players every day.
